David Downs is the founder of Brush Past, a creative project using storytelling, photography, and mentorship to support people facing homelessness and those in prison.

Drawing on his own lived experience of addiction and multiple prison sentences, David has turned his life around through recovery and creative expression.

While in prison, he won a Koestler Award for writing — a turning point that sparked his belief in the power of creativity to heal and empower.

Today, through Brushed Past and his work with DA Interventions, David is dedicated to helping others find hope, purpose, and a voice.
